A “Living Life with Purpose”

Life is wo easy to take for granted and getting caught up in the whirlwind of chaos, confusion, anger, disillusionment, fear, jealousy, rage, and just spinning your wheels and not getting ahead.  Life comes at you fast bringing challenges and decisions that are sometimes filled with inadequate preparation, unrealistic expectations, lacking the knowledge and/or past unresolved anger/trauma/abuse.  If you are not careful you will find yourself like so many others just living and just going through the motions.  In other words, living life without purpose is not living life with full potential and purpose. Because of our human nature, we become so engrossed by daily activity, engagements, goals & so forth, that we don’t have the present awareness of our own unique life purpose.  That becomes overshadowed.  According to a study done in 2016; 900 million people in the world are unfilled with their work and not their purpose.  Finding Purpose is the Key to Living Your Best Life!! A 2010 Study published in Applied Psychology found that individuals with high levels of eudemonic well-being which involves having a sense of purpose along with a sense of control and a feeling of what you do is worthwhile-tend to live longer.  Another study published in 2016 from the Journal of Research & Personality found that individuals who feel a sense of purpose make more money than individuals who feel as though their work lacks meaning.

There are some strategies that can help your reveal or find your purpose so that you can begin living a more meaningful and purpose filled life!!!

1.) Donate time, money, or talent.  Spending time serving meals in a soup kitchen, volunteering to drive for an elderly neighbor to the doctor or grocery store.  Just doing something kind for others can make you feel as though your life has meaning.

2.) Listen to feedback. Whether people think of you as a great comedian or they say you have a passion for children, hearing what they say they notice about you might reinforce some of the passions you’ve already been engaging in.

3.) Surround yourself with Positive People. Think about the people you choose to spend time with outside of work and family functions.

4.) Explore your interests. The things you like to talk about and the things you enjoy sharing on social media may reveal the things that give you purpose in life.

5.) Discover what you Love to Do. Simply thinking about what you truly Love to do can help you find your purpose.

Finding your purpose isn’t something that can be done in a few days, weeks, or months. It can be a lifelong journey and it can only be done one step at a time.  Be patient with yourself. Rome wasn’t built in a day.  Trust and appreciate the process.  Rushing is not the goa as it is not a race.  This is your Life and Your Purpose.  It has your name on it!!!

Yours in Your Journey to Personal Healing and Success!
